Small organ,
big impact
The thyroid gland controls many vital processes in our body, such as metabolism, heart rate, and energy supply. It primarily produces the hormone T4 (thyroxine) from the building blocks L-tyrosine and iodine.
The hormone T3
The T4 produced by the thyroid gland must be converted into its active form, T3, before it can take effect. This conversion happens in all body cells, but primarily in the liver. A lack of T3 is the root cause of most symptoms of hypothyroidism.
The role of the mitochondria
For thyroid hormones to work, T3 must take the final step of reaching the cells and activating energy metabolism through the mitochondria. It’s precisely at these three steps—production, conversion, and activation—that we at miavola come in. We support your body in a targeted way with our carefully designed products.
